Philosophy Retreats

Join us for an exploration! Explore ideas and explore Sedona—and discover how they are connected. We are deeply connected to the natural world, but in busy, urban environments it is easy to forget. Our weekend retreats are a getaway that actively engages and restores the body, mind, and spirit. Each retreat is focused on an area of meaningful philosophical inquiry. See below for dates and descriptions. We hope to welcome you to Sedona soon for this immersive experience!

Philosophy Hikes

Guided philosophical hikes on environmental ethics themes.

Spend time in one of Sedona’s most treasured natural wonders—Red Rock State Park—while you talk with philosophers about everything from humanity’s place in nature to how to face your own mortality. A Philosophy Hike is time spent on the trail and thinking about what it means to be there. The focus is environmental appreciation and education, and we can tailor the conversation to your interests and experiences.

The SPEX Book Club

Did you ever pick up a book of philosophy and find it so dense and obscure that you promptly put it right back down? We know philosophy can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s worth digging in, because philosophy provides many insights into human nature, the world, and our place in it. You can arrange a personalized program, or you may have a small group that is interested in working through a text. Some texts can be covered in just one meeting, others take longer. Contact us and let us know what you are interested in and we can help you arrange it. Doing philosophy is one of life’s greatest joys and highest arts. We want to help you experience it.
